
Lydia Regina Carriere
Lydia was born on April 9, 1898 in Benson, Minnesota. She was the fourth child of Joseph and Athala Carriere.
In 1927, at the age of 29, she married Mathias John Reichert. They had three children: Francis, Alice Jean and Charles.
Lydia lived her life in Benson, Minnesota, Benson, Saskatchewan Canada, Selfridge, Fort Yates and Mandan, North Dakota. She was both a homemaker and a hair stylist.
Lydia had a generous spirit and was always willing to help.She died on May 7, 1992 at the age of 94.

Virginia Marie Carriere
Virgie was born August 30, 1899 in Benson, Minnesota. She was the fifth child of Joseph and Athala Carriere.
Virgie married Joseph Friedt of Detroit, Michigan. They had three children: Irwin, Lorne, and Don. She lived her younger years near Benson, Saskatchewan, and after her marriage lived the rest of her life in and around Detroit, Michigan.
Virgie passed away October 24, 1985

Alphy Joseph Carriere
Alphy was born on November 28, 1909 on the homestead in Benson, Saskatchewan. He was the eleventh child of Joseph and Athala Carriere.
In 1941, at the age of 32, he married Wilhelmina Zimmerman. They had 8 children: James, David, Camilla, Joan, Robert, Harvey, Sylvia and Ruth
.Alphy worked for most of his life as a farmer in the Benson, Saskatchewan area. He eventually moved into Benson to run the International Harvester business and later worked for the Rural Municipality and retired from that position in 1976 .
It was said there never was a dull moment, even though times were sometimes hard.
Alphy died on December 19, 1979 at the age of 70.

Emma Mary Carriere
Emma was born on October 5, 1896 in Benson, Minnesota. She was the third child of Joseph and Athala Carriere.
In 1917, at the age if 21, she married Louis Alfred Bolduc. They had seven children: Lloyd, Kenneth, Verlyn, Donald, Willis, Doris, and Elaine.
Emma lived her life in New Hampshire, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. She was a farmer’s wife until her husband passed away. She then moved to Estevan, Saskatchewan and supported herself and family as a seamstress.
On Emma’s wedding day there was a severe snowstorm and the priest had to come with a team of horses and a sleigh. Times were often tough and Emma was remembered by her children as a hard worker who always made do with what she had.
She died on December 26, 1982 at the age of 86.

Eva Marie Carriere
Eva Marie Carriere was born in April 15, 1894 in Benson, Minnesota. She was the first child of Joseph and Athala Carriere.
In 1917, at the age of 22, she married Cyril ( Redd) Dame. They had 2 children: Florence and Adelord.
Eva lived most of her life in the Benson and Lampman, Saskatchewan area where she and Redd Dame met and were married. This is where she and Redd farmed and raised their family Adelord and Florence.
Eva is remembered as a wonderful person with a generous spirit and a willingness to help.
She died on September 1, 1968 at the age of 74.

Edward Joseph Carriere
Edward was born on December 7, 1902 in Benson, Saskatchewan. He was the seventh child of Joseph and Athala Carriere. Edward never married.
He lived and farmed near Benson, Saskatchewan, and for a short period lived in Rochester, MN. Edward was a farmer and an active member of the Knights of Columbus.
Edward was born the first winter the family arrived in Canada. In his early teens he developed a lung condition and went to the Mayo Clinic. As part of his therapy he learned to play musical instruments. He mastered the clarinet, saxophone, and violin. He is fondly remembered for his Model T cars and riding a mule for most of his short journeys
.Edward died unexpectedly at his farm on May 18, 1965 at the age of 63..

Anna Delima Carriere
Anna was born on March 14, 1901 in Berlin, New Hampshire. She was the sixth child of Joseph and Athala Carriere.
In 1928, at the age of 27, she married Arnold Beal. They had three children: Larry, Norma and Arlene.
Anna was a farmer’s wife and a homemaker. She lived in Berlin, New Hampshire, Benson, Saskatchewan, and Payton and Boone, Iowa.
Anna was hard working, gentle, quiet, and humble. She was always willing to help. She enjoyed growing things and planted a garden every year.
She died on August 22, 1992 at the age of 91.

Paul Antoine Carriere
Paul was born in July 25, 1904 at the homestead near Benson, Saskatchewan. He was the eighth child of Joseph and Athala Carriere.
In 1933, at the age of 29, he married Antoinette Dube. They had nine children: Dolores, Ida May, Kay (Kathleen), Phyllis, Edwin, Ronald, Jean, Dianne, and Jim.
Paul farmed for most of his life in the Benson, Saskatchewan area, and retired from there to Lampman, Saskatchewan, after his fortieth wedding anniversary. After Antoinette passed away, Paul married Pearl Nelson.
Paul bought his first house in 1937 for $150.00 which he tore down and rebuilt on his land. He added bedrooms as his family grew in size. This house was replaced in 1950. Paul’s interests revolved around family, church and community. He is remembered for his gentle but teasing nature - especially around his grandchildren.
He died in February 20, 1991 at the age of 87

Irvin Earnest Carriere
Irvin was born on October 14, 1916 near Benson, Saskatchewan. He was the twelfth child of Joseph and Athala Carriere.
In 1946, at the age of 30, he married Julie Reichert. They had eight children: Gail, Ryan, Lynda, Marla, Debbie, Terry, Randy, and Dean.
Irvin farmed the original Carriere homestead until 1971. At that time, because of poor health, he and Julie moved to Estevan, Saskatchewan. His son, Ryan, is now the third generation to farm the original homestead.
Grandma Carriere lived with Julie and Irvin on that farm until the end of her life. It was said there were many stories to tell of Irvin, but none fit to print. He was remembered as a kind, gentle person who always had a story to tell.
Irvin passed away August 4, 1978.

Albert Louis Carriere
Albert was born on February 4, 1908 on the homestead in Benson, Saskatchewan. He was the tenth child of Joseph and Athala Carriere.
In 1940, at the age of 32, he married Gladys Honan. They had five children: Douglas, Anne, Arlene, Kenneth, and Lynn
.Albert was a farmer for most of his life near the town of Weyburn, and served on the local School Board
.It was remembered that Albert owned a 1927 Chevrolet which had a tendency to stop in unusual places. On one such day the car stopped, not once but three times, and finally died. Out came both prolific French and a lug wrench. There was a loud bang on the hood and the car started right up. That car was never known to stop again. Albert enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved to tease and play little jokes on them.
He died on March 15, 1983 at the age of 75.

Isadore Moise Carriere
Isadore was born on July 22, 1906 near Benson, Saskatchewan. He was the ninth child of Joseph and Athala Carriere.
He married Florina Dame. They had six children: Leonard, Anabelle, Lorraine, Duane, Richard, and Dale.
Isadore lived near Benson, Saskatchewan, Fort Yates and Huff, North Dakota where he farmed. At Fort Yates he not only grain farmed but also had a dairy farm. After moving to Mandan, North Dakota he was employed by the Knights of Columbus.
Isadore is remembered as a happy-go-lucky person and a teaser. He was a hard worker, and always always willing to help others.
He died on July 20 1970 at the age of 63.
